If you are viewing this post, then this means you listened to Doc and Skip's show and listened to me give my pitch on their #BuildingAmerica segment. For that, I am very grateful not only you listen to high quality morning radio/podcasts, but you thankfully heard me out and are interested in swimming faster.
A little about me. I swam competitively for over 15 years from the puddle meets of lowly BC time standards all the way to national invitationals going head to head against Olympians. (Mind you, I was not an olympian myself, but I had the opportunities to go head to head against olympians on multiple occasions). I swam for Glendora High School and still hold 5 high school records and garnered All American honors in the 100 backstroke and 200 freestyle events. I also had All American Consideration time standards in most other individual events. I went on to swim for Brigham Young University for 4 years and garnered multiple Conference honors and was a consistent point earner for my team. I now am employed as a Civil Engineer designing swimming pools and fake rockwork for my parents. It pays well enough to cover all my expenses while living in Southern California, but I'm always looking for ways to earn extra money to pad the "Diaper Fund" as they say.
My business idea is a little unique because I am looking to help you get faster in swimming from a remote location via the internet. I plan on doing this by soliciting those who want my help to submit recorded camera footage of them swimming to me. To best accomplish this, I would need the following for any of the four strokes you want me to help you with:
Overhead shot of swimming (on the pool deck while the swimmer is in the water next to the wall swimming down the lane)
Underwater shot of swimming (preferably one lane away from the swimmer)
Above and underwater shot of turns
Above and underwater shot of start
If I can get these shots in a dropbox or uploaded on Youtube, I can take them, analyze them, and then record my own video in a similar fashion to "Let's Play" videos where I will go through and offer my thorough examination of your swimming stroke. I will then either send it electronically for free, or for an extra fee I will put it on a flash drive or DVD and send it to you.
My desire for starting this business is to spread the knowledge I have acquired after a long career of competitive swimming for the next generation. I have no desires to be a full-time coach of my own swim club, but I really enjoy helping people get faster in swimming. And I think through my business, I can help you get faster too.
My fee will be $50 per video made but for the first 5 customers, it will be half off at $25 dollars for a video. I am doing this because I know there will be some bugs and growing pains involved in my end of making a quality video from the footage you send me and I'd hate to charge full pop until I know exactly how I'm doing the video so feel free to capitalize on my inexperience today!
Any questions or desires for my services, feel free to email me @ Theferrell@gmail.com and keep this page bookmarked or RSS to this to receive immediate updates whenever I get posts up.
Much thanks for at least getting this far on this post. I will promise to not disappoint!
